Wazobia Beyond The Surface

Every year, the African Student Organization (ASO) of the University of Pittsburgh hosts a cultural extravaganza. The show is entitled WAZOBIA: Beyond the Surface. It is a celebration of the extensive variety of African culture ranging from language, dance, attire, poetry, and comedy to cuisine. The show will be including fashion designers from all over the globe. Specifically from Canada, Egypt, Nigeria, & of course here in the states. We will even be featuring the Mapapa African Acrobats from Kenya. The event it meant to inform Pitt & the greater Pittsburgh community about African culture while simultaneously raising money for our annual African culture ranging from language, dance, attire, poetry, and comedy to cuisine. This year we are raising money to help mediate malaria in Malawi. These days malaria is such an easy disease to cure but many people in Africa suffer from it because they do not have access to basic necessities such as nets, durable shoes or medicine.
Date: Friday, March 22nd Time: Doors open at 8:00pm.
